Three Charged For AT&T Armed Robberies, Pistol-Whipping Employee In Maryland: Police

Several people have been charged in connection to the robbery of an AT&T store in Rockville, authorities say.

Jalonte Malik Cole, 27, Sammie David Smith, 28, and Rayvon Marquis Drayton, 25, are accused of the armed robbery of the store in the 12000 block of Rockville Pike that occurred Thursday, Aug.18, according to Montgomery County Police.

The suspects entered the store shortly before 9 p.m., announcing the robbery by whipping a victim on the head with a handgun, police said.

The suspects then forced employees into the back office and storage area of the store and demanded the employees open the safe.

During the robbery, the suspects filled large laundry-style bags with iPhones, iWatches, tablets, AirPods, and the store's cash deposit, according to investigators.

Police believe that the suspects are also connected to the robbery of a second AT&T store in the 4900 block of Elm Street after they were seen in a blue 2022 Hyundai Elantra.

The trio was observed fleeing Montgomery County into Prince George's County and the District of Columbia in the Blue Hyundai Elantra. police said.

Cole, Smith, and Drayton were arrested without incident and found to be in possession of two handguns and a large amount of cash on Friday, Aug. 19, police say.

The trio was then charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, and firearm-related charges.

Drayton is currently being held without bond. Cole and Smith have both been released on bond.
